Ways in Which to Stop Dogs Barking and Annoying the Neighbors

Dogs are vocal animals and this is fine, after all everyone has a voice and wants to be heard at times, but when the level of barking becomes excessive and annoying, particularly to neighbors, then a responsible dog owner really needs to be looking at ways in which to stop their dogs barking. In order to even begin to curb a dog’s barking you need to understand why the dog is barking in the first place. Even when your dog seems to be barking at nothing you can bet your bottom dollar they’re barking for something, even if it’s only your return home.To ascertain if you have a dog that is barking excessively when you leave the house, it is a good idea to ask the neighbors if there is a noise problem and if there clearly is, then say that you are working on the problem, and then do so. Continual barking that begins after you have been away for about 20 minutes could be a sign that your dog is suffering from anxiety separation, which is a psychological condition which will require some extra attention and training. You could try building up gradually to leaving your dog for a period of time, by going out for say, 10 minutes and then returning and making a fuss of your dog so he is reassured that you will be back, and then keep repeating this process, staying away a little longer each time. An obvious way in which to stop your dogs barking is to come home more often, say in your lunchbreak, or try and get a friend to call round preferably with a doggy companion and spend a little time with your dog.A barking dog is often a bored dog that is lacking stimulus through the day, particularly when you are absent. Some owners find that providing a companion for a lonely dog makes it easier for them to leave the house, as two dogs will amuse each other and tire each other out with playing. Alternatively try giving your dog a long walk and tire him out before you leave him on his own.

Dog Fences the Key to Happy Neighbors

Dogs are one of the most popular pet in the United States today. We spend lots of money on them, pamper them and are very devoted to our four legged “children. ” Dogs require a high level of responsibility, they need to be fed, walked and taken to the vet. Dogs also need to be kept safe and taught to be good neighbors.

The easiest way for a loving dog owner to keep their precious pet safe is to install a dog fence. There are several types of fences available on the market today, these fences act as a barrier, keeping your pet inside your yard. Chain link and privacy fences are the more traditional choices for keeping dogs (as well as children) safely in their yards. Pet safe invisible fences, also known as wireless fences are gaining in popularity with many dog owners.

There are advantages and disadvantages to traditional well as to the newer style of dog fences. Traditional chain link and wooden privacy fences offer a physical barrier to keep your dog in your yard and other animals or people out. These fences can be expensive to install and the wooden ones will need regular maintenance to keep looking good. In addition, many, many dogs learn to either dig under or climb over a traditional fence.

The newer wireless pet containment systems, also known as invisible fences also have advantages and disadvantages associated with them. This type of dog fence offers the owner a system that keeps the pet in the yard, but doesn’t keep out other animals or people, which could leave your pet vulnerable. These fences can also be expensive to install, but they don’t “break up” the look of any landscaping. This is especially important with homeowners associations restricting the use of traditional style fences. One big disadvantage to an invisible fence is that if the wire gets broken, there is nothing to keep your dog in its yard, except its training. It is very important when using this type of fence to train your dog properly and keep up on regular maintenance; this is will ensure that if a break occurs, it can be fixed as soon as possible.

Another very pressing issue for dog owners is the fact that dogs bark. Some dogs only bark when necessary, other dogs bark at absolutely everything. This is more of an issue if you live in a neighborhood where people are more likely to complain, or if you leave your dog outside for long periods of time.
There are many reasons that will make a dog bark, other animals, people or the want to come in the house. It is important to teach your dog as a puppy a command to stop barking. By teaching a puppy this type of command, the issue of barking can be better controlled, although not completely eradicated.

If the reason for the dog bark is boredom, or the want to come in the house, the installation of a dog door can virtually eliminate the barking. Dog door come in an array of styles and prices. They range from a standard hole cut in a door covered with plastic, to a more high tech version such as the automatic dog door. This dog door works in conjunction with a transmitter that is placed on the dogs’ collar, allowing only your dog to enter your house.

As pet owners we want the best for our companion, the use of a dog fence and perhaps even a dog door will allow our pets and ourselves to live in harmony (most of the time) with our neighbors and friends.

Will a Anitbark Device Stop My Neighbors Dogs From Barking?

I have been looking at several antibark devices to stop the 5-6 dogs my neighbors have in their backyard from ruining my day by waking me up many times while I sleep.

There are several on the market, including a few on EBay that have mixed feedbacks. Most all are automatic ultrasonic units. One did claim to be better because it was manually activated so other noises won’t set it off.

I have worked with the police/court system on this before and got it to stop. Problem now is that after 1 1/2 of the dogs being stored inside their garage, they have built a fence. Now the dogs are in the backyard again barking.
However it is not as constant as when they were kept out there on chains before. It will be considerably harder to go to court with it this time since they don’t bark over 10 minutes straight like before.

They bark now for a few minutes and just about the time you go to sleep again they fire back up.

And no, killing them is not an option.
I have used ear plugs in the past. Generally I roll over and they fall out. I even tried the expensive wax kind that forms to your ear.

I also have run a fan on high. Problem is the barking is so loud it won’t begin to cover it up. Not even close. A TV set on really loud does good to be over top of it.
These aren’t bark collars, they are boxes that emit sound when a dog barks.

If they bark for longer periods I can file a civil suit. I was close a couple years ago when they agreed to put them in their garage.

My lawyer found a VERY similar case where the person in my shoes won and was the only complainer, right here in my state.
Does anybody here have an recommendations on a specific device? There are about 5 on the market that I see.
