How Do I Stop My Dog From Barking at Night?

My new dog wont stop barking at night, I am not allowed to keep him in my room.He sleeps in our garage, but has a very warm house.Any ideas on how to keep him quiet at night? Its been going on for a while. I go down and try to keep him quiet by petting him, and as soon as I go up he starts to bark again.

HELP! My neighbor’s dog is seriously disturbing my health and sanity!

I am a single mother and due to the economy crash, I lost my job of several years and had to get a new job that happens to be at night. I have only a very limited time frame during the day when I can sleep and during those hours I simply MUST sleep. My neighbor lets her dog bark and bark and bark on and off again throughout the day. I use earplugs and even started taking sleeping pills to help me sleep through the barking but nothing works. It seems I will be finally in a good deep sleep and the dog will start again and I wake and can’t fall back to sleep. It’s so bad I am so tired at work I can’t do my job well and I am afraid I will fall asleep and kill myself or someone else on the drive home.

My neighbor says she can’t do anything about it because “dog’s just naturally bark”. This dog barks at anything and even at nothing! I asked her to muzzle it for the few minutes it needs to go outside and go to the bathroom and then remove the muzzle when she brings the dog back in but she refuses.

I am a dog lover – I have a dog of my own but I do not allow my dog to disturb others. I have become so desperate I am afraid I will wake one day and hurt the dog in a fit of rage from lack of sleep. The police say they can’t do anything since it’s during the day but that is so unfair since the job market isn’t exactly open right now and I shouldn’t have to change jobs because of my neighbor’s cruelty.

He’s an Australian Shepherd and whenever a friend comes, he goes crazy. He will not stop barking unless we put him where he can’t hear us or see us. I’ve tried to treat him if he stops barking but he doesn’t stop barking and scolding doesn’t work. The muzzle just makes him angrier and any spray makes it worse! He doesn’t mind being put into a room alone! What can I do???
He’s not so bad when walking past people but if I talk to strangers, he starts growling and then barking. At home, if anyone comes even into our driveway (that isn’t us) even a car, he’ll bark. Once they get into the house, he jumps and barks! I know he’s being protective but I want to be able to control him because he goes absolutely crazy!

How Can I Stop My Dog From Barking Every Morning?

She’s a one year old miniature American Eskimo, and yes, I know they love to bark. From when she wakes up (about 6 AM) she barks constantly until about 9 or 10 AM. She barks at any slight sound and we have been trying to contain it. Today, we received a letter complaining about her barking from one of our neighbors and we our doing our best to contain it. How can we permanently stop her obnoxious barking? She only stops barking when my brother is home because she is afraid of him but he has to work every day.

Things we have tried:
Tiring her out with a walk every morning and evening
Playing with her
Puppy classes (though they did not touch on the subject)
Holding her muzzle
A firm “No”
Loud noises such as pennies in a can
Spraying water

Please help!
We are looking into an animal behaviorist or classes for her at the moment. The puppy class trainer, also a dog trainer, suggested to distract her with treats. His mindset was to reward her silence. This, however, did not work because she would just disregard these treats. I was just hoping for any other methods to help.

I have a small yorkshire terrier who lives inside with us. He is like a family member. He will forever bark at the lightest sound and scares my two year old daughter.
