Marley, a Bichon Shitzu mix, came to me as a birthday present and Wow. . . She was so cute as a button! We fell in love immediately. I did however begin to notice that she was very frightened and she would start barking at what appeared to be nothing occasionally. The more we grew, became more skittish. The scariest became the most barked. Eventually, she even barked at her own shadow. Literally! Through research, patience and persistence, I discovered how to help her overcome her need to bark. * Why a dog barking in the first place? A dog barks as a form of communication. It may be that your dog is barking to warn of impending danger, your dog may be bored, you can welcome him home, or if you like my dog Marley. . . simply barking barking! Barking is attention. Even when you shout, "stop barking" at the top of your lungs you are giving your dog a form of attention. And too often, yelling at your dog is ineffective. What is really happening is the creation of a cycle that goes something like this. Interpretation of bark screams like your dog is a strange affection. * Here is a quick "How to stop a dog from barking" Training Method1. When the dog barks at inappropriate times, go immediately to her and with a high voice now say "NO", then quickly dash your dog in the face with water from a spray bottle. If you do not want to use this method of water and quickly, after saying "NO", his dog movie with two fingers on top of his nose. Either induce an unpleasant after an episode of barking. NOTE: You should never his intention to hurt or harm your dog in every way! Do not use as much force to inflict pain to your dog. You just want your dog to experience an unpleasant consequence, however, should only be sufficient for him or her think twice before barking. It is very important to use a verbal command and the company of spray or nose correction method every time you touch your dog barks inappropriately. 2. Go to him immediately in an episode of barking instead of calling you. You must do this every time he barks otherwise never learn how to not "barking". 3. You must be persistent and consistent with this training method. If it is not. . . your dog will be persistent and consistent with their barking. 4. Reward your dog when a dog is easy! You can offer a treatment or even play with it when absolutely work just as well. Remember that your dog may bark for attention. So when he or she is calm, give them some. When you can make it more pleasant to be quiet barking, barking then and only then become a thing of the past.
