I have a 4 year old sheltie and she’s usually very well behaved. However since she was a pup any time I try to vaccum or blow my hair dry, she barks uncontrollably and attacks. Once when I was blowing my hair dry she went to attack the dryer and got me instead, not bad- as soon as she realized she got me she stopped, but how can I get her to relax or stop barking at these two object?? Please help! Thanks!

put her outside when you vac and dry

or turn on the vacuum,, have her in the other room with you on a leash,, get her to sit praise and treat..

correct her with the leash if she starts barking..

start in another room with her,, just keep the appliance turned on in the other room

Throw your carpets out,in favour of laminate floors and shave your head, and throw your hair dryer away.Much easier than trying to train a dog lol.Plus think of the time you have saved.

U can get the dog used to the vacum, just try to stop it from barking and give it a treat if it doesnt bark, and “punish” it if it wont stop and when i say punish, i mean just put it in “time-out”

That is sooo funny ’cause I have 2 Shelties that bark and try to attack my vacuum and blow dryer. I just put them in a different room when I’m vacumming or blow drying. You know what’s funny is that most dogs are scared of vacuums! My first Sheltie used to chase thunderstorms and would run around the neighborhood when she saw lightening or heard thunder. Shelties do just love to bark though, don’t they???? My male actually does bite the vacuum.

She’s afraid of the vacuum thats why she is barking at it..My one dog barks t them and the other just runs away everytime its comes near him. Try putting her outside or in another room while you are vacuuming. Other wise go to a trainer and ask them to do Desensitizing and counter conditioning training with her and a vacuum..You get better results if a trainer does it first.

    say no.

My dog is the same way, I just close the door when I blow dry my hair. We got rid of our vacuum and got a Roomba so it’s not as loud and she doesn’t really mind it.
