Would a Dog Whistle Work to Stop a Barking Dog Next Door?

The dog has always barked at us when we go out to the car or into the yard, which I hate because it is a boxer and is loud, but it also scares my grandson who lives with me. Now it is much worse because the new homeowners put up a privacy fence and the dog goes more berserk as it can only see a sliver of us through the fence slats. I am tired of it and they have heard us tell the dog to shut up and they do nothing.
Their dachsund used to pick up trash that had blown into our yard and they would then throw it into our fenced back yard like we had thrown the trash in theirs, so they are not going to be cooperative — please don’t tell me I should talk to them.
I want to know if a dog whistle blast every time that dog barks at us would possibly work?

antifreeze would. just kidding (kind of). I have no idea about the dog whistle. Can you not call the police? Most places have rules against bothersome dogs. See if you can find the non-emergency number and call them and ask what they can do…..Good luck

A dog whistle would only get the dogs more stirred up. Have you considered contacting the police or the local animal control? Most cities have noise ordinances against barking animals, and the threat of going to court and being fined may be enough to get these people to start being responsible pet owners.

There is a product that give off a very high pitched noise that most dogs do not like. One type is called a Dazzer. It may or may not work but you could try it. It woks off of batteries and you just point it at the dog and push the button. You can also call animal control as dogs are not allowed to be nuisance barkers

what you need to do is teach that dog a lesson but dont hurt it. and if that doesnt work im sorry but you would have to talk to the owner:(

I would say not. Dogs always bark when they hear high pitched sounds. I think you would make it worse. Ever notice how when there are sirens or something like that all dogs in the neighborhood bark. I think you would just give him another reason to bark. here’s an idea though lol, go to the store, they sell those dog silencers kind of pricy but worth it, and ask your neighbor if you can put it on her dog. It really works lol.

    no it wont work

  8. withhope14 says:

My understanding is that it would only make the dog bark more!

  9. jkc92618 says:

No, it will probably only make it bark more.

You can always call the cops on them if they aren’t easy to deal with.

i would call the police cause there is a noise accordance thingy cause someone complained about our dog, which we’ve had for 8 years and never had a complaint and i called the police to find out and they said that yes that they can because its a nuisance..
    the barking is.

sorry to hear your issue! that’s a real bummer. Speaking from experience the dog whistle does NOT work! I actually have a dachshund and they along with other small breads tend to bark alot. when using the dog whistle it made him bark more. you might give it a try – though dont hold your breath ! ! ! As far as your neighbors rudeness, you might want to call your local humane society and tell them you issue. They might have a good idea or maybe even talk with them…? wow….what a major inconvenience!!!! GOOD LUCK ! ! !

A dog whistle will probably make the dog even more crazy.
Talk to your neighbors about this issue. Don’t forget to add that you’ll going to call animal control if they don’t find a solution to this problem.
Give them some time like one month to train the dog or find a way to stop his barking, and inform your neighbors about the amount of time you’ll wait doing nothing.
If still nothing changes, simply call the animal control.

No, i don’t think it will do, I think it will make things even worser because the dog will be provoked.

The best shot is by calling police or animal control or some other parties that incharge…

Another shot that I don’t think will work is by growling back at the dog, but i think this will be so hard because You got to really understand Dog’s nature/habbit/etc. I’ve been trying this before and it work, but as an extra info, I’m very good with dog (not being proud), I’m not a profesional dog trainer, but I have a few experience in training dogs, even the worse one and I did it good enough.
