When you find out, will you tell me?
My dog does that too. What I do is when he starts barking at the door I go over there and drop my draws and fart then he stops barking and starts smelling my butt. Works like a charm.
you can take a plastic bottle with some pennies in it…you shake this or toss it near him every time he start barking while using the command NO BARK…you can also use a spray bottle filled with water…you just have to break the cycle and not let him get started…use the same command each time also….it will take time but it can be done…
I just let him bark. Lets me know if someones around.
Keep a radio turned on to soft or calming music. Music provides a “background noise” which covers distant sounds which are totally unnecessary (but which your dog barks to), such as dogs or people passing by, neighbor’s garage banging, etc. Calming music lullabys a dog to sleep too.
You should watch the show Dog Whisperer Cesar Millan on the Notional Geographic Channel. He has help dog owner fix every type if problem you can think of. Here is what I found on he web site.
Now, let’s get back to our barking dog. So-called nuisance barking, which is often ongoing and not in response to a particular stimulus like a jogger running by the house, is your dog’s way of sending you a distress signal.
Somewhere his needs as an animal are not being met. Is his world anchored by a pack leader who projects calm-assertive energy? Are you walking with him every day, which exercises his body and his mind? Is he living a balanced life?
If nuisance barking is a problem, consider these issues to find a solution. It’s the best way to show real love for your dog.
This will make more sense if you watch the show
What I’ve learned is you need to always be in a calm and assertive stay of mind when dealing with your dog. and you have to correct the bad behavior the moment it happens or right when you see it coming.

Hi there, not trying to be rude at all..however in reality your asking how do you stop a dog from being a dog… hehe
Dogs are protective of their masters and they property, its quite normal for him to to that. I have a dachshund, and they bark at everything, she was doing this for some time and I just firmly tell her no each time she does it, and now she is quite good and does not do it anymore. Just be firm and patient. Do not swat the dog please. Good luck
